Memories of music

O Youngsters

You are known by your triumph

The sky is your destination

You are known by your passion

You are Pakistan

Till your last breath

Keep your passion alive.

14TH of August holds a very special place in the hearts of people of Pakistan. Every year there’s this energy, this vibe of patriotism in the country in August. Every child and adult is busy decorating their homes from the poor to the wealthy from the educated to someone with no education. From the tea shops to the fruit stalls everyone is putting an effort into putting a contribution towards the love for their country. You can hear national songs played everywhere.

I don’t have just one memory with this song I have many but the most memorable to me is of my school. I remember the warm air in the corridors, I remember going past the classes and looking through the windows, every child holding green and white coloured banners and Pakistan flag bunting in every class to decorate their class with. I remember the performance we gave on the school stage for YOM-E-AZADI (the day of freedom) The performance where we had to copy the dance moves of the song. And all the fun and laughs me and my classmates had while performing the song. Every time I listen to this song, I go back to the very same school of mine all I need to do is close my eyes and I am there.

This song is a memory in itself as the lyrics are so beautiful and full of emotions. The song just gives you a boost of energy and gets you full of enthusiasm. There are a number of National songs but this one particularly catches my attention because it gives me hope. For someone who is from a country that has been in the media in a very negative way for years and who has been looked down upon because of that, its very important to remind yourself that you are not what the media portrays you to be. This song gives me hope in myself and hope in the country I was born in.
