A Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I’ve never written to you before, so fingers crossed you don’t mind me writing now and I hope I’m not too old. I hope everything in the North Pole is going well and that the elves are behaving themselves. Harry the Elf has been keeping an eye on all my children and I know they are excited for Christmas.

I know it’s a little cheeky to ask for presents for me, but they’re not the kind of thing you could put under the tree.

The problem is, dear Santa, I really need you to use your magic. It’s a big ask and not necessarily the kind of toys you carry in your sleigh.

The first thing I am asking for is a good sleep every night. With this I feel I could face each day ahead with a much cheerier disposition.

Secondly, if possible, an extra secretly slipped in hour, or even two a day when the kids are at school? I desperately want to have time to write but 3pm comes around so quickly and most days, my little wants and wishes just get pushed to the unnecessary pile.

Thirdly, a little bit of patience…actually, can I change that to a lot of patience? That would be a spectacular gift. You see, the kids are always squabbling, and I find myself asking them so many times to do one little thing. Then there’s my youngest in reception and I’m teaching her to read. I try so hard, but after blending ‘d-o-g’ ten times with the outcome apparently being umbrella, sometimes patience escapes me.

Fourthly, if possible, I would love a magic washing fairy… that would be a super gift! We have A LOT of washing in our house. They don’t have to do everything… maybe just put all the clothes the right way around and make sure there are no socks hiding in the ends of tights?

If you have any spare, could I also have some memory dust? Maybe there’s just too much going on, but some ‘bits’ definitely filter through the hole of mystery.

Maybe, actually, if you wouldn’t mind, a magic cream or spray too. You know, the ones used to erase blemishes and chase away any aches and pains.

I feel like I’ve asked for a lot more than I planned, and I don’t want to come across as greedy but there was one last thing that I always wanted yet never asked for as a kid. A magic jar of sweets, chocolates and goodies. The one I can reach into and it would know the perfect treat for me, every time. Obviously, it would need to be self-replenishing and so never run out.

I think that’s all, but if it’s ok with you, I might write every year now.

I will be sure to leave out ridiculous amounts of treats for you and your beautiful reindeer and if there is anything YOU would like, please write to me. I’ll have a lot of time and patience after Christmas so I’ll easily be able to sort it for you.

Merry Christmas Santa

Love Karen
