Jazmine Miles-Long
Her Face
A delicate lump of muted metal, you’ve lost your lustre through lack of contact and use. My skin once buffed you to make you shine as you gave me tiny reassuring knocks, bumping up and down on my collar bone as I walked. But along came a pair of grabbing human hands minute but oh so strong and relentless. You were too precious to loose so I set you aside in a safe place away from spitty exploring fingers. The settling dust has turned you dirty oxide grey. From a distance you look like a rose, it’s only when you are experienced up close that you notice how beautifully unique you are. Features sculpted by the strong and capable hands of the one I adore. His signature is scribed on the back of your head and kisses my skin. When I leave this life I will wear you, his name pressing into the dust of me forever. The most irritating yet wonderful presence the world could have gifted me.
