A Journey

The white glow is blinding and is a reminder of the light coming out of a long dark tunnel. The window design is blurred and doesn’t allow you to see outside but instead leads down to a shiny chrome letterbox. I can feel the cold of the metal touching my hand and hear the unlocking of the bolts which keep any intruders invading. As I step out onto the concrete a gush of cold air hits my face and I breath it into my lungs. My scarf is wrapped round my neck like a big warm hug of protection from the cold. The air feels crisp, there are glistening orange rays trying to peek through the clouds. The distant sound of waves is interrupted by the hum of a lawn mower and I can smell the cut grass. My feet feel warm, my boots slip slightly with each step I take. I can see white spots on the ground almost like polka dot within the concreate. I brush past a large rose bush and I feel its thorns catch on my coat. I take a gulp and I can taste the mouthful of coffee I had before leaving.
