My Muse
My Muse
He’s beautiful, when you really look. His music, his genius, his artistry. After an eternity of loneliness, he finally found her. He taught her, built her up like the structures he had once built in Rome and Persia. He had given her the greatest gift. And then, because of the compassion she had shown, and the love he felt, he let her go to be with another. To live in the light and love the life that he could not give her.
Do I like the protagonist? I love him. His story has been my muse, a constant presence since childhood. Sometimes just a quiet background harmony and sometimes a full-scale orchestral score to my life.
The story’s end, though tragic, I would not change because it would change him, his sacrifice. His saving grace. It is at once a horror story and a love story and I don’t believe it could ever be anything else.
